I'm aware of that; everything that I noted up there was based on the instructions, which I searched for 7-10 word phrases out of. The instructions do not need to be 'sufficiently creative'; the word from the copyright office covers "substantial literary expression—a description, explanation, or illustration, for example—that accompanies a recipe or formula or to a combination of recipes, as in a cookbook."
These recipes are absolutely covered in this, since I searched for extended lines of description, and found matches that extended to the entire 2-3 paragraphs of each recipe.
it was also so endemic (90% of the magazine was copied) that I do, on the other hand, believe Judith Griggs really did, somehow, believe her public domain defense, for some reason.
